John R. Whitehurst
John R. Whitehurst has enjoyed a career in Santa Barbara real estate for over 20 years, placing his focus on view properties, multi-family units, and property management. But his first love was art. He began taking art lessons in his hometown of Des Moines, Iowa when he was seven years of age.
Eventually he earned a degree in Art from Drake University, then spent several years in publishing - first as a newspaper cartoonist at the Des Moines Register and eventually as a newspaper owner and publisher.
Along the way, every aspect of his life has become a place where he can express his love of sensual forms and abstract beauty - from the car he drives to the stone sculptures he carves, to the environments he cultivates around his properties.
